Why all the fuss? Monsanto is an American multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation. It is a leading producer of genetically engineered (GE) seed. Monsanto was among the first to genetically modify a plant cell and its history as a chemical company has created a lot of controversy.
Why march? The primary reason for the march is focused on the use of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). Many consumers question the safety of GMOs and the safety practices of Monsanto. There are many environmental concerns about the toxicity of pesticides and herbicides that Monsanto uses and the effects they have on nature.
How to participate: Visit www.march-against-monsanto.com and click on their event page to find a march near you. There are over 400 locations throughout the world on October 12th. We must continue the fight to ban the use of GMOs. Find a march near you and say no to GMO!
