Of the 8 types of Vitamin E, only Alpha-tocopherol meets the Recommended Daily Value
The term ‘Vitamin E‘ describes a family of eight antioxidants, including 4 Tocopherols and 4 Tocotrienols, each designated alpha, beta, gamma and delta.
Of these 8 types, only Alpha-tocopherol is retained by the human body and plays an important physiological role. A special protein in the liver preferentially maintains blood levels of Alpha-tocopherol over every other form and incorporates it into low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which prevents the oxidation of LDL into harmful cholesterol that helps maintain cardiovascular health.
d-alpha-tocopherol-succinate, 100% Natural Vitamin E
Of the natural and synthetic forms of Vitamin E, the prefix ‘d-alpha’ describes its natural form, while ‘dl-alpha’ its synthetic. Natural Vitamin E is absorbed faster, retained longer and exhibits up to 5 times the biological activity of synthetic Vitamin E.
Greens Plus adds 118iu of d-alpha-tocopherol-succinate, extracted from wheat germ and soybean oils, as a natural preservative and antioxidant. Due to its unique processing and purity, d-alpha-tocopherol-succinate is hypoallergenic and gluten-free. One serving provides 390% of the recommended Daily Value of Vitamin E.
