There are two organically-grown cereal grasses (Barley & Wheat) and one lentil grass (Alfalfa) in Greens Plus. These young, tender sprouts are grown in the USA on certified chemical-free farmland and are carefully harvested, washed with ozone, dehumidified and micro-pulverized at temperatures below 86 degrees Farenheit to preserve enzymatic activity.
Greens Plus utilizes only whole leaf (juice and fiber) concentrates, and never spray-dried powders. The spray-drying process begins oxidizing enzymes and important nutrients immediately, and uses a base of maltodextrin or other sugar as a carrier to stabilize the fluid. Whole leaf concentrates are 100% pure with no added ingredients.
These premium quality grasses are an abundant source of chlorophyll, organic vitamins, essential minerals, antioxidant enzymes, dietary fiber and vegetable protein. Cereal grasses are considered gluten-free due to a growing method that harvests the immature grass at its nutritional peak but just before it begins to ‘stalk’ to produce grain, the only part of the plant to contain gluten.
Organic Barley Grass
Barley grass is highly alkaline and rich in enzymes, especially superoxide dismutase (SOD). SOD plays an important role in both plants and animals by neutralizing free radicals within mitochondria, the energy-producing organs within cells. Containing more than twice the amount of chlorophyll than Wheat grass, barley is a good source of calcium, potassium, magnesium and beta-carotene. It contains seven times more Vitamin C than oranges and five times more iron than spinach.
Organic Wheat Grass
Greens Plus contains wheat grass that is free of gluten and allergens found only in mature wheat grain. It is a treasury of Vitamins A, C E and K, over 90 minerals including chromium, selenium, iron and zinc, with a greater percentage of protein than eggs. It is considered by many nutritionists to be the ‘perfect food’ and is used to support the immune system, neutralize free radicals, and help eliminate waste.
Organic Alfalfa Grass
Centuries ago, Arabs began feeding their horses alfalfa grass, believing it made the animals swift and strong. They became so convinced of it’s benefits, they named the grass ‘Al-Fal-Fa’ – The Father of All Foods. Modern research has subsequently proven the presence of octocasonol, a potent energizing adaptogen.
Alfalfa, a well-documented colon cleanser, deodorizer and detoxifier, is actually a lentil and is very alkalizing. In the wild its roots often descend more than 100 feet into the ground, absorbing rare minerals that most plants cannot reach.
These three powerful Superfoods, combined with Spirulina and Chlorella, provide the Green Food foundation of our Award-winning nutritional formulas.
